The theory of explaining the organizational survival and development by organizational identity has been paid with more and more attention. The organizational identity is being regarded as a key standard to decide whether an organization is of legitimacy. However, studies related to organizational identity are in dispute, especially these about the relationship between organizational identity and identity legitimacy, and researches about the reason and process of identity change have not been systematically formed . Focusing on the identity research at organizational level, this essay summarizes the concept and research perspective of organizational identity, dives into the relationship between organizational identity and the establishment of organizational legitimacy and systematically presents research on the circumstances of the dynamic change of identity, driving factors and the process of change. To conclude, the author offers a blueprint for further studies.
